Thermography
Thermography adds an exciting new dimension to printed products by producing a raised finish to selected areas, such as a heading or logo, to highlight them. It can also be used as a less expensive alternative to Hot Foil Printing.
Different thermorgraphic powders will produce different finishes.
- Metallic powders produce a high gloss metallic sheen, and come in silver, gold, bronze and copper.
- Glitter powders can be mixed with tinsel, sequins and shiny flecks to produce a sparkling effect.
- Fluorescent powders produce a brightly coloured finish.
- Pearlescent powders produce an iridescent sheen.

Embossing/Debossing
Embossing/Debossing engages attention and gives the printing depth, by conveying a quality textural contrast to the selected areas. Embossing produces a raised effect, so that the image seems to pop out, and debossing produces a sunken effect. These methods are often used in combination with foil stamping. Areas to which this effect is commonly applied include logos, symbols, accents and security seals.
Different types of embossing/debossing will create different effects.
- Blind embossing/debossing gives a three dimensional effect without using ink or foil resulting in a clean and subtle image.
- Pastel embossing/debossing adds a soft faint colour to the raised/sunken area.
- Glaze embossing/debossing adds a shiny polished appearance to the raised/sunken area.
- Registered embossing/debossing creates a raised/sunken effect to a pre-printed image.
- Scorch embossing/debossing creates a singed antique appearance to the raised/sunken area.
